The good: Excellent image quality on HD DVDs and DVDs; solid soundtrack support, including Dolby TrueHD; much faster load times than its predecessor; HDMI 1.3; Ethernet jack to upgrade firmware.
The bad: Expensive; HD DVD could lose the format war; still some operational quirks; terrible remote.
The bottom line: The ongoing format war makes any HD DVD purchase a dicey proposition, but for early adopters willing to take the dive, the HD-XA2 is an excellent choice.
