  Summary: I need to shuffle largish files, such as 10 - 30 MB Powerpoint displays, between three computers: my office desktop (networked), my home desktop, and the notebook I bought for use on the road. The Zip 250 USB gets the job done. Having a small device that doesn't need a power brick -- that's a help, because the notebook commutes with me from the office to home. Both the desktop machines have 250-MB Zip drives, so it makes it easy to move large volumes of 'stuff.' This drive is considerably faster than the Zip 100 parallel-port that I was using before. Its larger disk size also helps me with larger files -- for instance, I could put a Drive Image backup of the notebook's C: partition on two Zip 250s, and use them to burn a bootable CD on my home desktop. Oh, yes, a larger, faster device would be nice. But this one, as I said, gets the job done.

  Summary: i have both an internal and an external 250 and i love both of them. i load all the files i need from my desktop and can quickly and easily put them on my laptop. and if i need to take files to someone else's computer i can easily transfer them. i have had my drives for several years and have had zero problems with chewed up disks or anything.

  Continues to breakdown; no tech support

  Pros: If it works, then you have a copy on one disk.

  Cons: I have a 750MB drive and every month, it quits reading the disk. And it often gets stuck during file transfer. There is no 800 number for support. It's crap.

  Pros:

  Cons: I have owned several Zip drives, 100 and 250s. The 250s, both internal and external have destroyed their own disks. The 250,s were used on XP Home and Prof. machines.

  Iomega makes shotty drives: buy a thumbdrive!

  Pros: Portable and does not require a power cable. Works if you use it exclusively on a Windows machine.

  Cons: -Cartridges are expensive -Do not use zip disks between Mac OS X and Windows machines. -I am a systems administrator and I had 8 out of 10 new drives go bad after the warranty period. -Customer support becomes facetious after 3 different drives go bad. -

  Never worked with XP

  Pros: Great price

  Cons: The first drive was defective. As for the second, after all the patch installs and support assistance we still could not get it to work on an XP system.. Returned the drive to the store..
