    "Doesn't Work" on by johnryan8

Pros: It was nice when it worked

Cons: It very seldomly ever worked

Summary: I've bought my last Iomega product. I had the 1TB version, which is exactly the same just with different hard drives. The system didn't work when I received it, I had to send it to Iomega at my expense. The new one worked for a couple weeks, then died. This happened a couple more times until I sent it back and bought another brand. Iomega played this up as the only problem they've ever had with these. I had four in a row not work. Not good odds...

    "Buyer Beware" on by ozinlon

    Pros: Looks good, good capacity

    Cons: Not Reliable

Summary: Unit cannot handle a sudden loss of power, after which it may not re-start without power cycling numberous time or removing drives (with the risk of losing data)

"Nice, when it worked..." on by Oliver_P

Pros: Easy to set up. Easy to use web interface.

Cons: Not reliable at all. Been through 2 machines already, both crashing within 6 months of installment.

Summary: I am very disappointed with the quality of this machine. It was easy to set up and use, but I have now the second machine lying in pieces on my desk and the support telling me that they will need to send a replacement. And this within 6 months of each other.

Let's just say that my boss is not happy...

"Product was extremely unreliable." on by rclaus72

Pros: A RAID 5 unit which was compact and could integrate with a windows domain.

Cons: required too much attention in order to get it work correctly. Never worked properly.

Summary: I originally purchased this product as a backup unit for a windows server and for archive purposes. Initially could not join the product to a windows active directory environment as was advertised. A firmware upgrade solve this problem. I created several folders and user accounts. I began storing some ghost images on it as well as file backups and video. I turned the unit off through the UI and left it offline for a couple of weeks. When i turned the unit back on I was shocked to find the unit seemed to be set back to factory defaults. All data seemed to have disappeared and user accounts were gone. When I attempted to add new folders to the unit I could see the old folders I had created however I could not retrieve the data. the unit is now pretty much useless to me as I do not trust loading any data on it.

"This device works like a champ." on by MrWx

Pros: I sleep better with a hot swappable raid 5 on the job. I ran the discovery software on all machines an had little trouble mapping the drive. We use mostly MACs with OSX as well as a few PCs and everyone can see it.

Cons: management interface a bit primitive. Took a little thinking to set up.

Summary: Can't beat this NAS for a small office. Cheap, dependable and easy to use
