HP is poised and ready to send a barrage of printers to our office, and to that we say, "Bring it on!" This won't be the first time we've been deluged with printers from HP, and we're eager to get back in the ring. Need proof? Just last August, we became a storage shed for HP's massive photo printer rollout. This time around, it's the small and medium business side that gets a product boost with 11 new inkjet and laserjet printers that HP claims will increase flexibility and grab attention at a lower price point. Some of the printers will be released March 1 with the rest following suit in the coming months. Let's size up the beast:

HP's newest line of SMB printers are simple and to the point. They aim to provide the most utility and include a comprehensive set of features, while maintaining an affordable price for home and small offices on a budget. Though most of these printers won't win any beauty pageants, we're excited to put them through their paces.

I've come back to HP. This is why.
by DigitalAdept on February 14, 2009
Pros: Had no problems assembling or starting the printer. Software was not a problem. Prints fast. Ink cartridges are the easiest to replace that I've seen yet. Very versatile machine for the price.
Cons: A bit noisy, but I didn't buy the thing to keep it near a sleeping baby. I'm working, and it's working too!
Summary: I bought this unit because I wanted the ability to fax/scan/copy/print in my home office. I'm used to "professional" business equipment at work, so I wanted ...
Summary: I bought this unit because I wanted the ability to fax/scan/copy/print in my home office. I'm used to "professional" business equipment at work, so I wanted something that wouldn't tie up my time trying to coax it to work each time I used it. Time is money.
So far, this unit has done well. Print quality is great, print speed is great, copier works well, controls are fairly intuitive.
If you aren't fortunate enough to be able to set up this printer without IT help, you are probably going to have trouble with even the most basic printers.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great printer, especially for the price
by bkm645 on April 13, 2008
Pros: Duplex printing, ADF, fast printing
Cons: Very noisy, tech support people know nothing

Summary: I have been buying printers since 96 and they have all been HP. This is the 6th HP, number 5 was not that good, but I thought I would give HP another chance. I am glad that I gave them another chance, this printer is better than any inkjet I have ever seen. It prints photos super quick and I can print a large document double sided very fast. The ADF is also great, it can scan double sided. The ADF is not that quick, but I do not scan or copy that much. I scanned a double sided 25 page document and it took about 5 min. The paper tray holds half of a ream of paper, so I do have to keep putting paper in the tray. The print heads are easy to change and they should last about 4k pages. The ink is suppost to have a large page count, but I will have to wait and see.
For $150 ($199-$50 for old printer) this is an excellent buy. If you are thinking about buying a new printer this is the best deal right now.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Bad software and a very slow device
by netwitness on June 11, 2009
Pros: I like the looks of the unit. Too bad this does not translate to a usable device.
Cons: The software install is huge (300 megs) and wants to add all sorts of junk designed to sell more HP services. The scanning and printing are slow. The software is also slow and difficult to configure.
Summary: I know HP makes a lot of All-In-One units, but they don't seem to know how to make one that actually works. I have had two different higher end ...
Summary: I know HP makes a lot of All-In-One units, but they don't seem to know how to make one that actually works. I have had two different higher end units over the last three years and neither of them were great. My most recent unit was the L7580 and it is the worst of the lot! I will try not to buy HP again! (Their laser printers seem to work fine, but their scanners are junk.)

Many features, but noisy
by povlhp on April 2, 2008
Pros: 2-sided scan, 2-sided print, fast, cheap per page
Cons: 2-sided scan only to memory card, noisy, only 1 paper tray included
Summary: Good printer that does it all. It is fast but paper handling is noisy. Little problems connecting over BonJour but accessing it over USB or direct on IP address works. ...
Summary: Good printer that does it all. It is fast but paper handling is noisy. Little problems connecting over BonJour but accessing it over USB or direct on IP address works. Ink is cheaper per page for original ink, and Vivera supposedly lasts much longer than Canon ink. Also nice that printheads are available at a fair price.
48-bit scanning is a bit slow (network issue ?), but 48-bit is nice. Software on PC/Mac need to support 2-sided scan through the ADF. You can scan 2-sided to PDF directly to memory card, but not from PC software.
I am missing a second tray for photo paper, as in my old canon MP500, that is my main gripe. Otherwise running fine between one mac, one Vista and one XP
But overall, I am very happy with the purchase.Updated
It is available in Europe, in stock in many places. Still comes with 1 year guarantee, even if law gives us 2 years (that we can not give up). So the 2 year counts despite HP saying something else.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

AWFUL. Poor printing, wastes paper and ink. Very slow
by skinnypete9 on January 7, 2010
Pros: Inexpensive purchase price.
Cons: Poor quality printing. Expensive to use because of wasted ink and paper. Slow and difficult to use.

by tonimad on December 27, 2009
Pros: nothing at all
Cons: tech suppport does not know what they are talking about on the phone in excess of 9 hours!!--problem not resolved yet!

contantly "eats documents" ...Summary: will never buy a product by this company again until they train the CSU unit to anwer questions without "jibber jaber" and making customer jump thru hoops !!!

worst hp printer i've bought
by EDPAUL on November 29, 2009
Pros: Looks pretty
Cons: Jams frequently, won't shut down, scanner too slow, broke part unjamming scanner and can't buy any replacement parts. Probably only printed 500 pages and I am ready to throw it away.

Quality multifunction, but unusable if empty cartridge
by ispeakgeek on September 8, 2009
Pros: Quality printing for multifunction printer/copier/FAX
Easy to operate and great functionality from scanning to FAXing to copying and printing
Easy to operate from USB or network to your system via ethernetCons: If one print cartridge is out of ink, you cannot print anything, even in black and white if the black cartridge is still good. You must replace the bad cartridge(s) before you can do any printing, FAXing, copying, or scanning. Bad design.
Summary: Would recommend trying other multifunction printers to see if they allow printing in black and white if a color cartridge is empty. HP needs to fix this design flaw.

Software stinks, does not work properly when installed
Pros: Colors are vivid and correct
Cons: Whenever I have to relocate the machine and have to re-install the software there is always an installation problem. Tech support is TERRIBLE. This is the 6th hp printer I have owned, the 1st lemon, and the last I am buying
