Very Unreliable
by EngStudent129 on November 15, 2008
Pros: cheep, runs fine with vista. Scanner quality is good for what you pay

Summary: Bought this printer cheep with a laptop, and have had nothing but problems with it. First off, the ink cartridge cradle locks up after every 20 pages or so for no reason. To fix it, all i need to do is open and close the front panel and it resets, but is still an inconvenience that shouldn't happen with a brand new printer.
Second, it seems to have problems recognizing ink cartridges. I have the factory colour cartridge installed and its ~90% full. However, every week or two, the printer randomly decides that the ink cartridge is incompatible and completely empty. After a restarting and playing around with it for about an hour, I can normally get it working, but again this shouldn't happen with a brand new printer
As far as ink usage goes, it does tend to use a lot of ink, but i don't think its any worse than any other inkjet printer i've used. Just use low-ink settings for stuff that doesnt matter, or buy a laser printer if your looking to do high quantities of b/w.5 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Decent Print Quality, Scanner is AWFUL!
by WeetzieBat on December 31, 2008
Pros: It has decent print quality for colored pages, and the black text is fine, but for that kind of quality you could spent 20-30$ instead.
Cons: The scanner is terrible. There were wavy lines all over the image.
Summary: Decent prints but not worth the price.. its basically a 30$ printer with a bad scanner.

BIGGEST FAILURE OF A PRODUCT I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED F-
by 65mojoe on February 16, 2009
Pros: Some HP product design wizard thought it would be a cool idea to hide a complete disaster of a product inside of a rather sleek, minimalist exterior.
Cons: Rarely do I come across a product that fails SO miserably right out of the box that I feel so compelled to write a review on it. Software crashes during installation, NO USB cable included (are you kidding me!?), Huge FAILURE trying to network it.
Summary: HP needs to get a clue that it takes more than a glossy white apple-esque exterior to make a product something useful. Horrible software (that takes twice as long to ...
Summary: HP needs to get a clue that it takes more than a glossy white apple-esque exterior to make a product something useful. Horrible software (that takes twice as long to uninstall), HUGE FAILURE when trying to setup the printer on a home network (im convinced its a compatibility issue with XP). This printer was a nightmare from the moment I opened the box. It will be on its way back to BestBuy first thing in the morning. Thanks for nothing HP......TWO BIG FAIL THUMBS DOWN FOR YOU!

Not Economical
by melvl on December 22, 2008
Pros: It's cheap and quiet. Scans more than one picture at a time into separate files.
Cons: The ink is too expensive. The Colour XL cartridges claim to print 440 pages. I didn't even get 50 pages. I've already gone through 3 colour and 2 BW XL cartridges in three weeks.
Paper feed is faulty. Often takes more than one page at a time.Summary: I'm going back to Canon and individual colour ink cartridges. This is ridiculous.

Printer runs well.
by bradymk on July 25, 2008

Summary: The printer/scanner work fine, good price. I had the printer installed on my Vista machine, but when I tried to print from XP machines on my home network I kept getting spooling errors. Test pages print fine, but not documents. HP tech support tried everything during a 60 minute session and concluded it was an operating system error. I switched back to my Canon i860 and have no problems with the home network. (But of course, now I can't scan.)

Good Deal!
by bigj1972 on November 23, 2009
Pros: I don't know what everybody's screaming about. Good deal and very reliable for the money!
Cons: Loud and clumsy during printing...
Summary: It was the right price with the right options. And, I am fan of HP products because they have served me well through the years.

Cons: Eats ink, weird installation routine, scanner never quite worked right, and the whole thing stopped working after about a year. DO NOT BUY.

Major disappointment
by kanana0508 on July 22, 2009
Pros: It works! That is if you only print black and white and don't use it much.
Cons: Very slow, scanner is terrible, and it uses more ink that an older model.
Summary: I bought this after my HP psc 2110 quit after 5 years of hard labor. I am very dissappointed in this hp. It is very slow, the pictures I print ...
Summary: I bought this after my HP psc 2110 quit after 5 years of hard labor. I am very dissappointed in this hp. It is very slow, the pictures I print are not as good as the 2110 and it uses way more ink than an older model. The ink is cheaper when you buy the cartridge but I have owned this printer 2 months and have had to buy 4 color cartridges compared to the older hp I would have only bought 1. I use to spend approx. $40 in two or three months on color ink , now I have spent $60 in two months and this doesn't include the cartridge that came with the printer. No more HP for me if this is what I get. Plus the scanner is confusing and it took a month to figure out how to access the pics I scanned. The photosmart thing is worthless.

For the price it's good
by pakhribas on July 6, 2009
Pros: It prints fast and the draft printing is good quality. Copying is fine. The control panel is easy to understand, and you can copy and scan without touching the computer. It fits nicely on a desktop without taking up too much space.
Cons: The HP software is quite heavy, but you can't modify scan settings without it! Scanning is not great. It seems to be using ink quite fast, but it's hard to tell after only two weeks of use.
Summary: A good value printer if you just need to scan, copy or print a few pages at home. If you want amazing quality or lots of printing you need to ...

For a budget machine, it's not a bad deal at all.
by av8nvrtd on July 2, 2009
Pros: It's fast and quiet. The quality is good if you don't want photo quality (spend more money if you do). Copies are perfect, scans are average and the printing that I need is perfect for what I use it for.
Cons: As usual HP tries to install to much crap that nobody needs. That's easy to bypass. Maybe someone out there wants this software.
Summary: Use it for what it is. This is a budget printer, scanner and copier that does a good job. It's fast and quiet and puts out what you need. ...
Summary: Use it for what it is. This is a budget printer, scanner and copier that does a good job. It's fast and quiet and puts out what you need. Pictures are great (it's not made for that), scans are fast and accurate, and copies are perfect. For what you might pay for another all-in-one, in my opinion, you probably won't get a better printer for the dollar than this.
