"Thinking about getting an Mp3/video player??? READ BELOW !!!" on by Chris131

Pros: Flawless Integration with Itunes and compact size

    Cons: Simply read below

Summary: TOP 5 THINGS THAT STEVE JOBS FORGOT TO MENTION ON STAGE WHEN HE INTRODUCED THE NEW IPOD.

    1. The new 30gig IPOD while displaying video will run for only 2 hours on one charge. After the 2 hours, you will have yourself one "Sleek, Sexy" paperweight.

    2. The new Ipod, like the old IPOD does not have a user replacebale battery. What this means is simple. When your battery dies and can no longer take a charge, you have to send it into Apple for a new one. They charge $100 plus shipping for this service. It's been reported (CBS NEWS) that you don't get your actual unit back either. They just send you an IPOD. It's not a new one, it's someone elses. I guess Apple assumes you still have all your media on your computers hard drive.

    3. When you open the box to your IPOD you will notice, there isn't much in it. Don't call Apple. That's the way they sell it. You don't get a dock. You don't get a case and you don't get cables to connect the IPOD to your TV. Those are all extra.

    4. The audio controls on the IPOD are poor. No REAL Graphic Equalizer here. And forget an internal FM tuner.

    5. the new Ipod is capable of outputting video back out to your TV, BUT don't expect DVD quality. The native resolution is reported to be 320 x 240 Great for the IPODS 2.5 inch screen but not so great for your big screen TV

It's important for people to know these facts when considering an Mp3/video player.

Yes I agree that the lacking of accessories is pretty disappointing, but it has a case, though it is not very practical. If you want extra video playback time you can reduce the brightness, it will save your battery! about Apple, I cant say anything about that because I had this problem. If you do have you can buy an alternative battery and do the process by yourself but youre taking chances and you can destroy your iPod for good! but there are many manuals on the net and many videos as well! The iPod is a great MP3 player and I still hardly recommend it! Those who want to buy a new one, please wait till steve jobs will declare a new iPod on wednesday 5th of september! its worth it!!

The I-tunes situation is a joke. Having to download music from your source and then transfer it to I-tunes and then transfer it to your Ipod is really a pain. Also, having to acquire third party software to get videos converted in order to again, transfer to I-tunes and then onto your ipod is a bit cumbersome. Getting your Ipod set up correctly so that you dont lose all your files if you go onto someone elses computer to get the music files you want is a bit ridiculous too. Why do they even offer that option. Not real happy with being nickle and dimed everytime I attempt to use a new feature on the Ipod.

I have had mine for a month. And yes it does eat up battery when playing videos. But if you keep it recharged you shouldnt have the problems. Im hoping everyone has taken out the extended warrenty. Cause if you have problems in the next 2 years, Apple will take care of it. My co-worker hard drive crashed and apple is sending him a new Ipod.

Chris131, you make some good points. Many people have no idea about these issues. I do think that Apple changed their policy on the battery replacement though. I think it's only $65 dollars to send your unit into them. Don't get me wrong. That's still kind of expensive and I don't believe you get your specific unit back.
