Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse price range: $49.71 - $73.99

The good: Two modes for the scroll wheel let you spin through long documents quickly; very portable; the Logitech VX Nano laser mouse is shaped for both left- and right-handed users; programmable buttons; tiny receiver stores inside the mouse; laser tracking for precision on many surfaces.
The bad: Somewhat expensive; may be too small for people with large hands.
The bottom line: If you can afford its high price, you'll be pleased by the Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse's comfort, features, and extremely portable design.
Measuring 4 inches long, 2.4 inches wide, and just over an inch thick, the Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse is about the size of a bar of soap, which makes it extremely portable. That's also just about the smallest you can make a travel mouse without sacrificing user comfort; the VX Nano felt comfortable for our medium-size hands, though large-handed users might prefer the slighter bigger VX Revolution. We prefer to mouse with our left hand, so we really appreciate the VX Nano's ambidextrous contours, which are comfortable for both left- and right-handed users--a major advantage over the VX Revolution, whose shape accommodates only right-handed mousing.
The Nano's USB receiver is the tiniest we've seen. The actual USB plug makes up most of its 0.8-inch length, and when you plug in the receiver less than 0.3 inch--about the radius of a dime--sticks out. At that size, you can easily leave the receiver plugged into your notebook, even when you're on the move. The receiver also stashes into a storage slot under the mouse's battery cover; we like that the mouse automatically turns off when the receiver is stowed, which saves power and ensures the mouse won't accidentally turn on when it's in your bag. To protect the mouse while in transit, Logitech provides a handy neoprene case.
Like all VX mice, the VX Nano incorporates Logitech's "nearly frictionless" scroll wheel, which lets you scroll through massive documents at extraordinary speeds. With this feature, there's no tactile feedback on the wheel: give it a flick, and it just keeps spinning. We averaged 31 pages per spin while scrolling through a 300-page PDF, and it took just two spins to reach the bottom of our 350-message inbox. If you want more controlled scrolling, just press the scroll wheel straight down to switch into a traditional click-wheel mode. This easy switching between gliding and clicking is a big improvement over the VX Revolution, which requires you to flip a switch on the bottom of the mouse to change scroll modes.
The VX Nano features high-precision laser tracking that we found to be very responsive on our desk, a notepad, and our pants leg. There's a handy LED battery meter on the top of the mouse, so you know how much juice you have left. (Logitech claims the mouse will run for 6 months on two AAA batteries.) Though you can use the VX Nano without any setup--just plug in the USB receiver to an available port and go--installing Logitech's Set Point software, available for both Windows and Mac, makes all of the mouse's five buttons programmable.

Good, but not as good as other laser mice

Summary: I bought this mouse to replace a bluetooth Mighty Mouse (the only laser based bluetooth mice at the time). I really liked my rechargeable Laser MX500, but that's not very convenient for my laptop. I was really happy when I saw that Logitech was coming out with the VX Nano, however I am not really satisfied with this mouse.
The biggest issue is that it doesn't track on my desk surface like my previous two laser mice did. This is more like an LED based mouse (in other-words, it barely registers movement).
Other than that (major) issue, I think this is a pretty nice mouse, well engineered and a great size. I'm not in love with the hyper fast scroll wheel, but that's a minor consideration.7 out of 10 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I bought this mouse nearly as soon as it came out off the internet after reading the hype. It delivers in all the ways it should, it is truly an excellent mouse if you have the money to blow, for most people.
BUT, if like me, you have larger than average hands (Mine are not particulary huge), it is very uncomfortable to use for anything more than a few minutes! It only supports my hands resting to the knuckles, my palm drags over the desk during use.
I wish I could return it now and get a MX Desktop style mouse, but alas I tore apart the pacakaging in my frenzy to try my new toy
But as I said, if your hand fits on it would be the ultimate periphiral!4 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: This is the best mouse I have ever owned and used! I have large (XL) sized fingers/hands and I have absolutely no problem useing the VX Nano. What I particularly like about this product is: it's compact feel, sensitive and precise mouse movement on screen, perfect placement of controls, the very small USB mini transmitter which you can just leave in one of the computer's USB ports. I have two laptops with this product installed in each of my laptop computers, an XP OS Toshiba, and a Vista OS HP. Both VX Nano's work perfectly. Additionally: I like the battery placement, and on off switch, with indicator light placed in the base of the mouse. Tells you whether the mouse is positively on or off, a gret feature. The cost I thought was very reasonable for this superb product. Thank you Logitech for bringing out such a great product!

Pros: Excellent design complemented by amazing software (LCC 2.6, Mac), precise, compact, & very beautiful !

I got it as a replacement for my Apple Mighty Mouse which fed on dust that ultimately killed its scroll ball function.
The Logitech VX Nano is sleek and precious at the first glance. The Nano receiver fitting into its back is incredible brainstorming !
You can configure every single button on it with the software to your needs. The scroll wheel is fantastic, only except the fact that it activates the left or right click at times when it is pressed.
Comes with a lovely netted pouch to carry the mouse around.
I couldn't be any happier ever in my life with a mouse like this one ! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

"great for travel, not ment for working"

Summary: My biggest hate for Notebook cordless mouses is the USB receiver. Normally their too large and 9/10 times break within a year. So when I saw how small this usb receiver was I thought it was going to be well worth the 70 dollars. Upon opening it I was surprised how poorly the the scroll wheel worked. For most of my work I need to hold it down to edit. (I use programs such as 3DS max, Adobe CS3, CAD among other digital programs.) It feels lose under my finger when ever I go to use it, sometimes it never wants to scroll like it should and feels like it was made for a mouse that was worth 20 dollars. If your a fan of the scroll wheel you will be disappointed. if you want a easy mouse to use while traveling and really want a small USB receiver then this would be the mouse for you. Over all not worth 70 dollars. I've returned this mouse because its not functional with my work applications. I only gave it a 3 rating because I did enjoy the flawless cursor movement and for the tiny USB receiver.

Intelligent, well thought-out design.
I was originally looking for inexpensive mouse for the 2nd work laptop that I take into the field... After trying it, I imediately went back and bought a second to replace my desktop mouse.
I read all the reviews on the VX series last year and decided to pass... Didn't want to pay premium prices for a mouse.
But after using this for 5-minutes... I was sold on a 2nd one. No buyer's remorse here.
The best improvement would be a little lower price.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Ive Been looking for a notebook mouse for along time. deciding between the nano and another logitech mouse. I bought the Nano on sale at staples and am very satisfied with the results.
The laser works on any surface. It feels fine in the hand a tad small but my last notebook mouse was an inch wide by an inch and a half long so for me its an up grade. the software for it is a little excessive you don't need it but it allows for more features. The receiver is really small yet i can stand about 5-6 feet back and still use the mouse. it comes with an extension cable if you would like to plug it into a desktop unit.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
