Noteworthy Features: Has 1920x1200 resolution, which is higher than some similarly priced monitors. This LCD screen has a relatively good contrast ratio (1000:1), which generally makes it easier to see color distinctions against a dark background. Its wide viewing angle (178 degrees) is useful whenever the screen is being viewed by more than one person at the same time.Accepts DVI input, which allows for greater signal clarity than traditional VGA.
Weaker Features: None noted, given available product data.
Suitability: A flat panel monitor, suited for those who want a high-end display for movies, presentations, or design work. The 6 ms response time of this screen makes it ideal for fast-moving games and for watching movies.
Value: Overall, this monitor has great features for the money.
Suggestions: (1) Before purchasing an LCD monitor, consider visiting your local store for a live demo to ensure that its overall image quality, color, and sharpness meets your expectation.(2) You can use the built-in USB hub to connect peripherals such as mice and keyboards, or a flash card reader.(3) For more help in deciding if this is the right monitor for you, visit the buying guide for monitors at CNET Reviews.

S-IPS Excellence at a Great Price
by nam01zx on February 2, 2009
Pros: Crisp, clear, wide viewing angle with a minimum of color shift anomalies (S-IPS characteristics)
If you work with images where accurate color is important this is a monitor to look at. However color adjustment IS a necessity!Cons: It could be delivered with a more accurate color calibration but most that use this screen will want to use a good hardware calibrator anyway to assure they're getting the most of the excellence this screen has to offer.
Summary: I haven't had this monitor long enough to give a complete and comprehensive review, but I can say that it is a huge improvement over my previous excellent CRT. ...
Summary: I haven't had this monitor long enough to give a complete and comprehensive review, but I can say that it is a huge improvement over my previous excellent CRT.
I waited quite some time for the flat panel screens to mature & come down in price. My son has an iMac with the excellent Apple IPS screen and it became my benchmark. I told him I'd find a monitor for less than half the price that would be comparable... & I did!
I'm an illustrator by profession having started my freelance career 28 years ago working with paint on illustration board. I moved to a digital platform 12 years ago I have both enjoyed the vast expansion of capabilities that digital has brought to my creative world and lamented the lack of control I've always had over what the client does to my artwork by the time it reaches print or the web. Part of the problem has always been color uniformity across platforms & equipment. It's getting better every year and fine monitors like the LP2475w are going to continue to improve visualization all along the chain.
With proper calibration this wide gamut monitor offers a subtlety of color shading, hue accuracy and shadow detail I've never been able to enjoy on my expensive crt. Scanned image accuracy can be strikingly accurate now (gee, I didn't realize how good my scanner is!) Compared to my other son's Acer P221w TN panel there is no comparison in color accuracy as the Acer suffers the typical vast color shifting / viewing angle problems typical of inexpensive TN screens.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Best Monitor at Price Range
by s2sphoto on December 4, 2009
Pros: IPS panel for less than $1,000 and provides good viewing options for pros.
Cons: I wish the stand was a little better. Other than that, it is a solid monitor - I can't really complain at all.
Summary: The DoubleSight 24" IPS is discontinued, the Dell 2408wfp is S-PVA and is hard to color balance. The Apple 24" is 300USD more expensive. Honestly, if you wanted a pro ...
Summary: The DoubleSight 24" IPS is discontinued, the Dell 2408wfp is S-PVA and is hard to color balance. The Apple 24" is 300USD more expensive. Honestly, if you wanted a pro or semi-pro monitor for work and didn't want to spend over $1200 for an NEC, what other options do you have? At this price range, the panel alone makes it worth it. Are there things that can be improved? Yes. Does the lack of these improvements make this monitor bad? No.

OVERSATURATED REDS that you can't get rid of
by dandv on April 8, 2009
Pros: Connectivity, ergonomics
Cons: The RED IS TOO DAMN INTENSE! Even after calibrating the color settings from the graphics card, I still couldn't get the RED not to scorch my retina, unless I dimmed everything or got the colors way off.

Top level versitile S-IPS needs color calibration
by cpdb on January 23, 2009
Pros: S-IPS panel, many connectors, fast response rate, brightness+, resolution, contrast ratio, adjustable stand
Cons: Not factory calibrated Reds over saturated No saturation controls
a calibrator will fix the problem, add +$160 to the cost = about $760
Still a good deal for a I-IPS panel
Feel like spending the extra $$ and get a MacDisplay already calibrated?Summary: This is a top of the line Monitor for a great price. I searched for nearly a year to find the best balance between cost and quality. I was looking ...
Summary: This is a top of the line Monitor for a great price. I searched for nearly a year to find the best balance between cost and quality. I was looking at lacie and the Ben-Q's, but the cost was prohibitive. I almost bought the ASUS PG221 but I didn't want a TN panel.
Anybody now a god inexpensive calibrator?
Then I found this Monitor on tft centrals site, it ranks in the top percentile in every catagory. In fact everything I read about this was great.
I find it to be super crisp, text is sharp, movies look great. I'm not a gamer but other reviews say there's little to no ghosting.
However if your doing photo editing you will need to get this calibrated as the reds are seriously over saturated. I didn't think it could be that bad but as soon I hooked it up (wich was simple) it was obviously to bright and saturated. The controls let you dim it and control contrast but not saturation.
I'm thinking of returning it based on the reds, I do alot of photo editing and I don't want to spend more $ on a calibrator. But some people I talk to say I should have a calibrator anyway. I don't know?
H.P. why don't you just fix this! You have a great product here! Fix the color.
www.tftcentral.co.uk give a extensive review.
CNET your monitor review section is dated, weak and frustration. Impossable to find the best monitor on your site. Most popular is not the same as best.
Less mp3 players reviews more Monitor reviews. I mean you have an entire podcast focused just on MP3 players. I never any body talking about monitor in your podcasts, not crave, Buzz outload,etc..I think the Monitor market is much more competive and mysterous than MP3players. Your reviews should list right at the top what kind of panel is inside the monitors. And it should be searchable by the type of panels. Also it would be help to clearify if a monitor meets criteria for 1)photo editing 2)Gaming 3)Movie 4)general use. Maybe the community needs to demand better reviews.
