The good: Fast prints; excellent print quality; built-in duplexer; network-ready; separate photoconductor means less waste; expandable on-board memory.
The bad: Text LCD isn't backlit; C530dn model doesn't have expandable paper handling options; color handling could use some minor improvements; lacks straight pass-through printing.
The bottom line: With fast speeds and impressive print quality, the Lexmark C530dn is a great color laser printer for the price. We prefer it over a more expensive color printer from the competition.
Description:
The Lexmark C530dn is a 24 ppm, color laser printer.
Compared to other color lasers on the market, it is very inexpensive at around $495.
This unit features 1200dpi.
Pros:
This printer supports color at a resolution of 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi.
The Lexmark C530dn is TCP-IP enabled, meaning it can obtain a network address and act as a standalone print-server.
Holding 350 sheets without using optional trays, this printer goes longer between refills than many other printers.
This laser printer also supports duplex printing, which allows you to print on both sides of a page in a single pass.
At 375 MHz this printer has a fast processor, which speeds up the printing of complex documents such as images.
(A fast processor allows complex documents to be translated into printed graphics and text at a faster rate.)
Cons:
Even with optional paper trays installed, this printer only has a capcity of 350 sheets total capacity, which is somewhat less than some similarly priced lasers.
Suitability:
A color laser printer, suited for printing images, presentations, as well as documents in color.
This printer can handle legal (8.5 in x 14 in) and A4 (8.25 in x 11.7 in) documents.
Value:
Given its very inexpensive price, this laser printer has good features for the money.
