The good: The HP Color LaserJet 2605dtn shows excellent color and monochrome print quality, has a built-in photo card reader and duplexer, and is reasonably priced.
The bad: The menu system is difficult to navigate, paper input is limited to 500 sheets, and software could be more small-office friendly.
The bottom line: The HP 2605dtn has some flaws, but it prints color cheaply and well enough for small offices, individuals, and small corporate workgroups.
Description:
The HP Color Laserjet 2605DTN is a 12 ppm, color laser printer.
Compared to other color lasers on the market, it is relatively inexpensive at around $625.
This unit prints at 600dpi.
Pros:
This printer supports color at a resolution of 600 dpi x 600 dpi.
This printers ethernet capability enables it to be made available on the network without tying it to any one server.
At 300 MHz this printer has a fast processor, which speeds up the printing of complex documents such as images.
(A fast processor allows complex documents to be translated into printed graphics and text at a faster rate.)
Cons:
Only prints at 12 ppm speed, which is somewhat slower than some similarly priced lasers.
For example, the
Konica Minolta Magicolor 5440
, at around $700, prints at 27 ppm speed.
Also, this laser printer even with optional paper trays installed, this printer only has a capcity of 500 sheets total capacity, which is less than some similarly priced lasers.
This unit does not support duplex printing.
Suitability:
A color laser printer, suited for printing images, presentations, as well as documents in color.
This printer can handle legal (8.5 in x 14 in) documents.
Value:
In general, this laser printer's features seem a bit weak, even for its relatively inexpensive price.
