The good: Fast monochrome text speed; competitively priced; expandable.

The bad: Limited paper storage; some of the add-ons are expensive; color graphics output could be better.

The bottom line: A fast and versatile network-ready color laser printer, the Brother HL-2700CN offers much for small businesses.

Description: The Brother HL-2700CN is a 31 ppm, color laser printer. Compared to other color lasers on the market, it is very inexpensive at around $515. This unit has a maximum resolution of 600dpi.

Pros: This printer supports color at a resolution of 2400 dpi x 2400 dpi. This printers ethernet capability enables it to be made available on the network without tying it to any one server. At 300 MHz this printer has a fast processor, which speeds up the printing of complex documents such as images. (A fast processor allows complex documents to be translated into printed graphics and text at a faster rate.)

Cons: At 250 sheet, without additional trays, the Brother HL-2700CN doesn't handle as many printouts between refills than do most of its competitors. This laser printer does not support duplex printing.

Suitability: Made for those who need high volume color printing. This printer is capable of accepting pages up to letter A size (8.5 in x 11 in) and A4 (8.25 in x 11.7 in).

Value: Overall, this laser printer's features are as expected for this price.
