The good: Reasonable price; 17-inch wide-screen; double-layer DVD burner; multimedia controls; great Harman Kardon speakers; good mobile performance; long battery life.

The bad: No Windows XP Media Center or TV tuner options; limited connectors.

The bottom line: The midsize Toshiba Satellite M65 strikes a good balance between nice multimedia features, solid performance and battery life, and a fair price.
