Description: The HP iPAQ H1935 is a Pocket PC-based, consumer-oriented handheld device. Compared to other consumer-oriented handhelds on the market, it is expensive at around $490. You can expand the memory of this unit using Secure Digital (SD), or MMC media. Runs on Microsoft Pocket PC 2003.

Pros: Has a mere 0.5-inch thickness, which is somewhat thinner than some similarly priced handhelds. Also, this handheld weighs just 4.4 ounces weight, which is somewhat relatively lighter than some similarly priced handhelds.

Cons: Since this device runs on Pocket PC, it will work only with Windows, not with Linux or Macintosh operating systems.

Suitability: Built for someone who wants basic PIM functions. Also, this handheld should be adequate for viewing color images (given that it supports 64,000 colors at a resolution of 240x320). You can also use this handheld to playback MP3 files stored in memory.

Value: Notwithstanding its expensive price, this handheld has good features for the money. Note that with Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 installed, the HP iPAQ H1935 has the latest generation of OS available in a Pocket PC-based handheld.

Suggestions: (1) If you think you'll enter large amounts of data, consider purchasing an external portable keyboard for your PDA. (2) For news and reviews of the latest handhelds, visit the Handhelds Feature on CNET Reviews .
