I purchased an LG BH100 online from Circuit City and it was
delivered last Saturday 1/27. I have it hooked up to a
Panasonic TH-PX600U with HDMI. No other cables.
The unit did not come with an HDMI cable. I had to run out
to radio shack and get the cable. I cannot change the output on the BH100 to 1080P when using a Blu Ray Disc. When I go into menu, picture, the resolution choice for both 480i and
1080P are greyed out. I called LG technical support and we
tried everything and could not get it to output 1080P, so LG
is sending me a box to return it for either getting fixed
or swapping out. I also called Panasonic technical support
and they said that the TH-PX600U was always ready to receive
1080P through the HDMI port. That no adjustment was necessary to the TV.
Also, I have read post at AVSForum that the BH100 through
HDMI does not pass 5.1 audio to a receiver. If HDMI is hooked up to the receiver only video goes through and the
optical audio output from the BH100 must be hooked up to
get 5.1 stereo. There is no optical cable as well. My
BH100 is passing through 2 channel audio through the HDMI
cable just fine. I have not tried 5.1.
Even though I am not getting 1080P, the blu ray disc video picture at 1080i is very good. Much better than a regular
disc at 1080P. I also played regular DVDs at 480P and the
upconverted picture is better than regular 480P. I compared the 480P picture to a 10 year old RCA DVD player hooked up
to the same TV set.
These are the observations of an early adopter.
