I think, especially for Palm, a merger of these two companies would be a good
thing. Five years ago, you used to see people carrying Palms all over the place.
Now you see Blackberry's everywhere but not Palms. However Blackberry's are
really a business users tool whereas the Palm is more for the consumer.
Blackberries are an expensive consumer solution. Such a merger would expand
the scope of penetration for both companies - Palm into the corporation and
Blackberry into the consumer market. Also, these companies are up against the
likes of Motorola, Microsoft etc which have vast resources. A merger would help
both Palm and RIM broaden their strength.
