EFS 
Encrypting File System 
A public key encryption technology that works in conjunction with Microsoft NT file system permissions to control access to files and folders. EFS lets any file or folder be stored in encrypted form and decrypted only by an authorized user. The system is available in Windows 2000 and XP Professional.
