Jini
An open network architecture developed by Sun Microsystems that simplifies the process of adding and sharing devices such as printers and disk drives on a network. Instead of having to install and configure a new device, then reboot, any user can simply plug a Jini-capable device into a network, and it automatically communicates its identity and capabilities to every other computer, device, and user. The device is then available as a shared resource. For example, if a hard drive on a network has Jini capabilities, any computer on that network can use it. (Pronounced "genie.")
