intranet
A private network based on TCP/IP protocols, like the Internet, that belongs to a private organization and is accessible only to its members or employees. The tools available on this network work like those available on the World Wide Web, but they are protected by a firewall from access by unauthorized users. The main purpose of most intranets is to share information and resources among employees.
