logical block addressing
A hard disk sector addressing scheme built into the Enhanced IDE (EIDE) drive standard that allows PCs to use hard drives larger than 528MB. A logical block address is a 28-bit value that maps to a specific cylinder-head-sector address on the disk; this allows enough variation to permit use of hard disks of up to 8.4GB.
