persistence
The amount of time a phosphor dot (the pixel) stays lit after current has been applied to it. A pixel's persistence is what allows an image to remain on the screen between screen refreshes. Computer monitors with short-persistence pixels may show flicker, while those with long-persistence pixels may show ghosting.
