Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0.176
Pros: Most antiviruses don't have as much features as this one, very unique, interesting, and it's free.
Cons: Update may fail, scan takes over an hour at least, may be outdated, and occasionally false positives.
Summary: It's very basic, but I'm sure buying the full version makes it a lot better. read more

Pros: more features with link scanner, anti-spyware.
Cons: slower and high memory usage

"I'd recommend trying Avira first"
Pros: When it scans it doesn't slow down your computer at all and it can kill virus, etc. And it's FREE!
Cons: It finds a lot of tracking cookies and they do nothing about it.... And sometimes I gotta redownload it because I can't update it for some reason. And it didn't find some trojans while Avira did!!

"Updating latest version prompts constant restart loop."
Pros: Used to be a great product and I was happy for two years.
Cons: Big problems updating AVG FREE 8.0 version. Can no longer update without getting a "must restart" message. After restart, AVG doesn't update. Have tried solutions posted elsewhere to no avail (including 2 reinstalls). Now I'm about to switch
